Client name:
Simmons Civil Contracting and Mainbrace Constructions
Location:
Boolaroo, Lake Macquarie
Job scope:
Kenex Stencils was awarded the line marking works for the new Costco development at Boolaroo in Lake Macquarie in July 2021, which included over 800 car bays, various safety line marking elements, including directional arrows, shared zones and pedestrian crossings, as well as car park hardware, such as bollards, bike racks and speed humps. The was also a fuel centre built onsite which required additional line marking and hardware.
Project outcome:
A job of this scale can come with challenges due to the nature of the work and size of development, however it was externals factors that proved the most challenging. After work commenced in early July 2021, the site was subject to a 2 week lockdown due to an industry-wide shutdown imposed by the NSW Government. In addition to this, the site was exposed to a Covid-19 case that saw all workers onsite required to isolate for a further 2 weeks.
With team members required to isolate, Kenex Stencils were able to build capacity into their remaining team by pulling resources from all areas of the business to assist in getting the job completed.
The existing team worked with increased efficiency and dedication to ensure productivity levels did not drop as a result of team members being stuck at home and most importantly, ensured that no compromises were made when it came to safety and quality of work. Variations to the scope were actioned quickly in order to help the client meet the tight deadline.
As a result, the site was able to open on time and in the words of Matt Hayes, Senior Site Manager for Mainbrace, “with a good quality finish”.
